Job Title:                     Sr. Electrical Engineer

Department:                Electrical Engineering

Location:                     Devens, MA

Reports to:                  Engineering Manager

FLSA Status:               Exempt


  • Design the Control System Architecture for process applications.
  • Design the control system and create electrical schematics, bills of materials, and other documentation required to support the electrical designs of power and control panels.
  • Work with vendors to procure hardware components.
  • Work with subcontractors for panel fabrication and skid wiring.
  • Test, debug and troubleshoot control systems.
  • Set up, test and debug analytical instrumentation.
  • Set up, test and tune VFDs and servo motor drives.
  • Follow engineering quality, standards, methods, policies, and procedures.
  • Management of small EE team.
  • Some travel (domestic and international) may be required.

Required Experience & Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in systems integration/manufacturing.
  • Experience with Control panel design/layout, including schematics
  • Field wiring, including wire/cable selection and conduit sizing
  • Proven history of designing and implementing automation methodologies on multiple projects.
  • Organized and driven to achieve measurable results in a fast paced working environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Must have experience writing clear, detailed test plans and status reports.
  • Cost management.
  • Schedule management.
  • Proficient with MS Word and Excel
  • Must not be restricted from working in an FDA Regulatory Environment.
  • Ability to interpret the functional requirements, P&IDs and design documents to plan, develop, write, and execute test plans and procedures for our clients.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience implementing automation solutions in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.
  • Hazardous Environment design experience – Class 1, Div. 2 and ATEX
  • Rockwell PLC programming
  • Familiarity with NEC
  • AutoCAD Electrical
  • Familiarity with MS Project


Job Title:                     Service and Sales Support Engineer - Chromatography

ChromaCon AG, a subsidiary of YMC Co. Japan, is a provider of cutting-edge process technologies, services, and equipment to the Life Sciences industry. YMC is the leader in continuous process technologies for the purification of therapeutic proteins, peptides, oligonucleotides, and small molecules. As part of the YMC group (globally over 500 employees with a 40-year history), our group’s vision is to rapidly expand our equipment footprint in the Life Science industry. Our division within YMC specializes in the develop and support of our Contichrom® CUBE, a laboratory-scale continuous chromatography system employing ChromaCon process technologies and our sister company’s (YMC Process Technologies, Devens, MA, USA)  GMP scale chromatography equipment for the larger scale purification of bio/pharmaceuticals.

For on-site and off-site customer support of YMC chromatography systems in Europe, we are seeking to employ a versatile and highly motivated Presales and Service Engineer. Service and Sales Support Engineer

Main Job Responsibilities

Technical presales support for GMP chromatography skids

  • Assisting the sales team to explain technical aspects of the offering to prospective clients
  • Assist in the writing of URS, PID, FS and other technical documents required for quoting of GMP production skids

Service of chromatography and related equipment/skids by

  • Providing training and technical support
  • Writing service/maintenance documents
  • Preparing SAT and IQ documents
  • Executing SAT and IQ protocols
  • Providing support by on-site testing of equipment / parts
  • Servicing products at customer’s requests
  • Preventive maintenance and repair of Contichrom CUBE benchtop and GMP scale systems
  • Supporting ongoing characterization projects on the bench top or pilot scale (Demos, feasibility studies)
  • Operating software installation and updates


Required Skills/Qualifications

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. Engineering degree in system automation
  • In-depth knowledge about system automation, e.g. Alan Bradley, Delta V or Siemens
  • Experience about working in a GMP regulated environment
  • Balanced and communicative personality
  • Good writing and communication skills in English and German
  • Work includes travelling to customer’s site in Europe for customer support
  • Skilled in computational tools such as Excel / Word
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Must have experience writing clear, detailed test plans and status reports.
